The train tickets were no good. The trains were full from the stops further south so it was a long walk in.
Supervised barriers on Quay Street prevented people from getting into the concert. There were big video screens on Quay Street showing the stage action, but their speakers wern't going. Dave Dobbin's act looked good but it was impossible to get close enough to hear his show.

The tight crush at the warf entrance occationally gave way and I was lucky to be amoungst the relative few from a reported 200,000 who had come to see the show.
There will be a lot said over the years about the logistics and failings of the event. I wouldn't have missed it.

It was not overcrowded on the warf or in the bar or cloud buildings. Even near the front right of the stage there was room for many more.

The fireworks were very impressive and went on for ages. Apparently the biggest display in New Zealand history.

Even when the fireworks were over there was still a mass of people crushed in at the entrance trying to get in. Then it was beers at a pub off Queen Street and dinner at Johns Mexican Cafe. Then the long walk out of town.
